Pleasanton Man Sentenced to Nearly 15 Years in Fatal San Ramon DUI Crash

Badal Dholaria, 28, of Pleasanton was sentenced Oct. 15 by Contra Costa Superior Court Judge Stephanie Clarke to 14 years and 8 months for manslaughter, DUI, and assault in a Nov. 29 crash on westbound Crow Canyon Road near Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon. Police said Dholaria was driving a Tesla at more than 150 mph when it struck a Ford Bronco, killing 41-year-old Castro Valley nurse Alix Sparks and injuring her husband Gregory. Dholaria pleaded no contest last month, avoiding a trial scheduled for November; he is expected to serve about 12.5 years after credit for time served and good behavior. The judge imposed the minimum $150 fine while reserving the right to award victim restitution at a later hearing.
