15-Year-Old Pleads Not Guilty in Roseville Grandmother's Killing
A 15-year-old pleaded not guilty in Placer County juvenile court to first-degree murder with a special circumstance of lying in wait in the killing of Cherie Dodge, a Roseville grandmother. Dodge was killed about two weeks ago while sleeping on a bench off Atlantic Street in Roseville; Roseville police have said there is no known connection between the teen and Dodge. The prosecutor told the court the teen left home at night with a knife and ski mask and traveled six miles before attacking Dodge. Dodge's family asked the court to keep the teen in secure custody and requested that the teen's parents' role be investigated. Police say the case remains under investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact Roseville police.
