The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has lifted fire bans on G&F Commission-owned and managed lands within Park County, including the Sunshine Wildlife Habitat Management Area west of Meeteetse and the Sunlight Wildlife Habitat Management Area northwest of Cody. The department had implemented the ban in July to coincide with county-wide fire restrictions aimed at protecting resources and property. Officials caution that conditions remain very dry and urge recreationists to exercise care when using campfires and grills. Current fire-ban status for all commission lands statewide is available at wgfd.wyo.gov.

U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman, the Republican U.S. Senate nominee, held her 89th town hall at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, last Saturday, addressing energy production, federal regulation, trucking safety, and other legislative priorities. She discussed efforts to overturn federal coal-leasing restrictions, remove grizzly bear protections, modernize Casper and Cheyenne postal facilities with over $3 million in investment, and expand tribal land lease flexibility to 99 years. Attendees pressed her on presidential war powers regarding Iran, rising health-care costs, and livestreaming executions; Hageman supported Trump's Iran actions, blamed the Affordable Care Act for health-care problems, and said she had not analyzed the execution question.

The Powell Valley Recycling Center at 946 Road 10 in Powell, WY operates the only commercial-size glass-crushing operation in Wyoming outside Yellowstone National Park, grinding bottles, jars, and window panes into sand and pea gravel. In just over a year, the crusher diverted 90 tons of glass from landfills across Wyoming and southern Montana. The center accepts most glass types except safety glass, tempered glass, and fluorescent tubes, with flat glass required to be broken into pieces smaller than 8 inches. Glass arrives from as far as Sheridan and Bozeman, and Cody's curbside recycling business drops off glass there because Cody does not accept it. The nonprofit is funded partly by $2 monthly per Powell household through city utility billing and sells crushed glass products for landscaping, sandblasting, and filtration uses.
