PBSO Deputy Fatally Shoots Suspect After Pizza Robbery Pursuit in West Boynton

A 54-year-old man was shot and killed by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy Tuesday after a pursuit tied to a pizza delivery robbery ended in a crash on Jog Road between Grand Isle Drive and Woolbright Road in West Boynton. The Monday-night robbery occurred at the 400 block of North K Street in Lake Worth Beach, where the suspect grabbed cash from a delivery driver before fleeing in a black 2020 Chevy Silverado. Deputies spotted the vehicle near Lake Park around 11 a.m. Tuesday and pursued it along I-95; after the crash, the man ran with an object wrapped around his right hand, prompting officers to deploy less-lethal weapons before a deputy fired when he raised his hands into what was perceived as a shooting position. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw confirmed the suspect did not have a firearm. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office, and PBSO's Violent Crimes Division are investigating.
