New Yountville Town Manager Heather Abrams Begins Oct. 19

Heather Abrams, previously town manager in Fairfax, Marin County, held a public meet-and-greet on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Yountville town council chamber ahead of her first day as Yountville town manager on Oct. 19. Abrams succeeds Brad Raulston, who resigned April 29 following criticism over the proposed Yountville Commons affordable and workforce housing project. $150K Creek Restoration Funding Coming to South Napa County; Oct. 24 Field Day

The Napa County Resource Conservation District is set to sign an agreement bringing $150,000 from Vista Corp. and Clover Flat Landfill Inc. to Suscol and/or Huichica creeks in south Napa County for restoration planning. The funding stems from a September 2025 settlement over a March 2019 landfill spill near Calistoga, which also directed $950,000 to the Huichica Creek project and $440,000 from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to Suscol Creek. Suscol Creek passes under Highway 12/29 near Soscol Junction; Huichica Creek passes under Highway 12/121 in the Carneros region. Restoration goals include creating wetlands and buffers against predicted sea level rise. A public Huichica Creek field day is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 24 for residents to learn about the creek's ecology and provide input on restoration options.

St. Helena Students Get Library Access via Student ID Through One Card Program

Starting within a few weeks, approximately 1,150 St. Helena Unified School District students will use their school-generated student ID numbers to access the St. Helena Public Library and all Napa County Library locations without applying for a separate library card. The One Card program, a partnership between SHUSD and both library systems, provides access to book checkouts, e-books, audiobooks, online resources, live homework help, and practice tests for the SAT, ACT, and California driver's license. Students log in using "SHUSD" followed by the last four digits of their six-digit student ID, with a PIN based on the phone number linked to their student account. The initiative builds on a 2016 One Card partnership between Napa County Library and Napa Valley Unified School District, the first program of its kind in California.
