The National Weather Service in San Francisco issued a beach hazards statement Saturday at 6:02 a.m., effective through Sunday at 9 p.m., covering the Coastal North Bay including Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Northern Monterey Bay and Big Sur, and San Francisco County. The NWS warns of sneaker waves, strong rip currents, and breaking waves of 7 to 12 feet that can sweep across shorelines without warning. Residents are advised to stay off jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure, remain out of the water, and never turn their back on the ocean.
