FBI Investigates Snapchat Threat Reported at Multiple Mississippi Gulf Coast Schools
Several South Mississippi school districts, including Harrison County School District and Gulfport School District, received a potential threat to harm students or staff that spread via a group Snapchat across the Gulf Coast. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety and FBI are leading the investigation, with Jackson County Sheriff's Department also involved and increasing police presence at schools on Monday afternoon, Oct. 19. Authorities advised the threat does not appear credible, though the investigation remains ongoing. Students who saw the threat in a group Snapchat immediately reported it to authorities.
