Logan County Deputy Killed in Crash with Coal Truck While Responding to Call
A 24-year-old Logan County Sheriff's deputy, identified as Caden Mullins, was killed around 5 p.m. Saturday when a coal truck pulled off the road and struck his vehicle at the intersection of Rum Creek Road and Route 10 in the Man area. Mullins had been attending a truck-or-treat event with his fiancée before receiving an emergency call from the sheriff's department; she was airlifted to a hospital after the crash. The deputy had previously worked for the Charleston Police Department before joining the Logan County Sheriff's Department to be closer to family. Several law enforcement agencies joined the community for a funeral service to mourn Mullins.
