Hernandez Outraises, Outspends Wahab in CD-14 Race Ahead of Nov. 3 Election
Challenger Melissa Hernandez raised about $2.1 million and spent roughly $2 million through Oct. 14 in the Congressional District 14 race, while incumbent Aisha Wahab reported raising about $1.2 million and spending about $752,200 in the same period. The Nov. 3 election marks their second matchup after Wahab won an Aug. 18 special runoff with approximately 53% of the vote to fill the seat vacated by Eric Swalwell's resignation amid sexual abuse allegations. Outside spending included about $2.5 million from the United Democracy Project super PAC against Wahab and in support of Hernandez, while the Committee For Working Families spent about $684,000 supporting Wahab. Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley filed an FEC complaint accusing Wahab of campaign finance violations, which she denied; a separate complaint was sent to the Alameda County District Attorney alleging state-law violations.
