Ada County Judge Cancels Three Hearings in Kohberger Post-Conviction Case
Fourth Judicial District Judge Steven Hippler canceled three hearings in Bryan Kohberger's post-conviction case at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise, Idaho, including a Thursday hearing on Kohberger's motion to disqualify him. Kohberger pleaded guilty in July 2025 to the November 13, 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students—Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin—and received four consecutive life sentences without parole. He subsequently filed a petition for post-conviction relief seeking to withdraw his guilty plea and obtain a trial, alleging coercion in the plea process. Hippler also vacated status and evidentiary hearings set for June 2027, instructing Kohberger to schedule new dates with the Ada County Courthouse clerk by Aug. 2, 2027.
