Ada County Judge Cancels Kohberger Post-Conviction Hearings; New Dates Due Aug. 2, 2027
Fourth Judicial District Judge Steven Hippler canceled three hearings in Bryan Kohberger's post-conviction case at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise, Idaho, including a Thursday hearing on Kohberger's motion to disqualify him. Kohberger pleaded guilty in July 2025 to the November 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students and received four consecutive life sentences without parole. He subsequently filed for post-conviction relief seeking to change his plea, alleging coercion during the agreement process. Hippler vacated status and evidentiary hearings previously set for June 2027 and directed Kohberger to schedule new dates with the Ada County Courthouse clerk by Aug. 2, 2027.
