Publix Advances $200M Warehouse Expansion in West Lakeland

Lakeland officials approved an updated site plan on Oct. 27 for Publix's approximately $200 million warehouse expansion on County Line Road in West Lakeland, adding a 403,871-square-foot produce warehouse and a 63,022-square-foot return center. The approval came with conditions including stormwater management, floodplain protections, and pedestrian access along Allen K. Breed Highway. Under Polk County's amended 'Project Harvest' agreement, Publix must add at least 10 full-time positions paying a $63,978 average annual wage to retain an eight-year property-tax exemption running from 2028 through 2035. A traffic study projected 846 additional vehicle trips on an average weekday and concluded no additional road capacity would be needed.
