3-Year-Old Dies After Accidentally Shooting Himself Outside Bartow Burger King
A 3-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the face with his father's gun at a Burger King drive-thru on East Van Fleet Drive in Bartow, Florida, on Thursday evening. According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, the father removed a handgun from his waistband due to discomfort while dealing with a credit card issue, and the child in the backseat got hold of the firearm. The boy was rushed to an area hospital but did not survive. No arrests were immediately made, and the Polk County State Attorney's Office is reviewing whether to file charges under Florida's culpable negligence statute for leaving a loaded firearm within reach of a minor.
