Eustis' Historic Clifford House Reopens for Regular Public Tours

The historic Clifford House at 536 N. Bay St. in Eustis, Florida, began regular public hours on Oct. 1 under the management of the Eustis Memorial Library. The house is open 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m.–noon on the first and third Saturdays, with first-floor tours available while upstairs repairs continue. Scott Amey, the library's circulation and historical resources manager, leads tours covering the history of Guilford Davis Clifford, a merchant and carpenter who helped establish Greenwood Cemetery and supported one of Eustis' first schools. The city has owned the property since 1979 and transferred management from the historical society to the library in 2023. A citrus museum behind the house may open for tours as early as December, though that date is not confirmed.
