Flood Cleanup Underway Tuesday in Pagosa Springs; Evacuation Orders Active in San Juan County, NM
After nearly two weeks of heavy rain totaling more than 20 trillion gallons across the Four Corners states and Nevada, floodwaters are receding but cleanup continues in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where downtown remains closed to traffic and walkways and bridges have collapsed or been heavily damaged. In San Juan County, New Mexico, major rivers remained above flood stage Tuesday as officials waited to lift evacuation orders affecting at least 20,000 residents near Shiprock and Farmington. One person died in floodwaters and police suspect a second death was weather-related. Across multiple states, flooding disrupted Election Day voting, with polling places relocated in Rock Point, Arizona on the Navajo Nation and alternative voting plans adopted in parts of Colorado, Utah, and Florida.
