Amador County Residents Press Supervisors on Data Center Moratorium
At its October 20 meeting, the Amador County Board of Supervisors received public comment from residents requesting a formal agenda item on a potential data center moratorium. Jackie Vaughn, identifying herself with the Amador Data Community Center Action Group, cited 37 California cities and counties that have enacted moratoriums while studying impacts on water, roads, wildfire conditions, emergency services, and utility infrastructure. The group has appeared before the Board three times in recent months without receiving a response. Two additional residents commented via Zoom, with one stating the group would continue independent research if the Board does not act. No pending data center applications currently exist in Amador County.
