Sutter Creek Rejects Consolidation MOU; School Board Votes Wednesday, Nov. 4

The Amador County Unified School District is advancing its consolidation plan for the 2027-28 school year, with Superintendent Jared Critchfield announcing administrative recommendations on October 30 for a consolidated high school (grades 10-12) at the Amador High campus in Sutter Creek and a junior high (grades 7-9) at the Argonaut campus in Jackson. On Monday, November 2, the Sutter Creek City Council rejected a proposed Memorandum of Understanding with ACUSD, citing traffic concerns at Highway 49 and Sutter Ione Road, transparency issues, and insufficient detail. The administrative recommendations will go before the Amador County School Board of Trustees for consideration on Wednesday, November 4. Separately, the council discussed capping short-term rental permits at 28 within city limits and planning for City Manager Tom DuBois's retirement transition.
