Beach Hazards Statement for CA North Coast, Sunday 6 p.m.–Monday 10 p.m.

The NWS Eureka office issued a beach hazards statement at 10:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, valid from Sunday 6 p.m. through Monday 10 p.m. for Coastal Del Norte, Northern Coastal Humboldt, Southwestern Humboldt, and Coastal Mendocino zones. The alert warns of an increased threat of sneaker waves—large, unexpected waves that can sweep people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches without warning. The NWS advises avoiding rocks, jetties, and steep beaches, staying far back from the water, and never turning one's back on the ocean.
