Surgone Fire in Humboldt County Reaches 95% Containment as of Oct. 18
The Surgone Fire, first discovered at 12:25 p.m. on Oct. 11 along State Highway 169 near Surgone in Humboldt County, California, has reached 95% containment as of Sunday morning, Oct. 18. The fire burned 64 acres before Cal Fire Humboldt-Del Norte Unit crews established control lines around most of the perimeter. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Containment means 95% of the fire's perimeter is enclosed by a control line, though it does not indicate the fire is fully extinguished.
