Witnesses Describe Months of Abuse Before Girl's Death in Horry County Murder Trial
Camisha McGaskey is on trial in Conway for the June 11, 2025, murder of 11-year-old A'Kyri Bell at a home on Sago Palm Drive in a gated Carolina Forest community. Witnesses testified Wednesday that McGaskey subjected A'Kyri to near-daily beatings with hands, electrical cords, and hot water over more than a month, including holding her head underwater in an upstairs bathroom dubbed the 'upper room.' An investigation by SLED and Horry County Police also uncovered a forced-labor scheme in which minors at the house cleaned medical clinics in the Conway area. Multiple family members face charges including obstruction of justice for allegedly destroying evidence after the girl's death.
