Hollister Council Votes to Reverse Layoffs of 36 City Employees
On Oct. 19, the Hollister City Council unanimously approved an emergency resolution to bring back 36 city employees who received layoff notices from City Manager Ana Cortez on Oct. 14. The council also rescinded a financial emergency declaration it had approved at its Oct. 2 meeting. Affected workers include nine civilian police employees, a police captain, and 25 staff in public works, finance, senior services, parks and recreation, and airport departments. A special council meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, to finalize decisions from the closed session.
