Long Beach, MS Woman Sentenced to 35 Years for Stabbing Murder
Daphne Diane Zeringue, 57, of Long Beach, Mississippi pled guilty last week to second-degree murder in the January 16, 2025 stabbing death of 68-year-old Gary Cooper at a residence on Daughtery Road. District Attorney W. Crosby Parker announced Tuesday that Circuit Court Judge Lisa Dodson sentenced Zeringue to 35 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections with no parole or early release. A witness reported that before the killing, Zeringue chased her around a vehicle with a machete while saying 'Everyone's gonna die.' The court acknowledged Zeringue's history of mental illness but a forensic evaluation determined she was legally sane at the time of the offense.
