China Alley Preservation Update at Kings County Historical Society Meeting Oct. 26, 5:30 p.m.
The Kings County Historical Society will host Arianne Wing, president of the China Alley Preservation Society, on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at its Social Hall at 14060 Hackett Street in Hanford. Wing will discuss the future of China Alley, including restoration progress on the Taoist Temple Museum, which suffered arson damage in May 2021. The Preservation Society recently received a Placekeepers Fund grant from APIAHiP, supported by the Mellon Foundation's Humanities in Place program, selected from over 60 applicants nationwide, to fund interior reconstruction and soot remediation at the museum. Over 100 artifacts loaned to the Hong Kong Museum of History for an exhibit that ended June 7, 2026, will return once restoration is complete. The dinner-and-presentation event requests a $20 donation; RSVPs are due by Oct. 23.
