Fatal Crash, Secondary Incident Injure CHP Officers on I-80 in Fairfield

A 19-year-old San Pablo man driving a 2007 Honda Civic was killed Tuesday at 10:45 p.m. after losing control on eastbound Interstate 80 west of Air Base Parkway in Fairfield and being struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe. About an hour later, a Tesla driven by a 22-year-old Sacramento man drove through traffic-control flares and cones at the same scene, striking a CHP patrol vehicle and injuring two officers seated inside; both were treated at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield and released. Alcohol was not a factor in the first crash, and it remains unknown whether the Tesla's self-driving feature was active. All I-80 lanes reopened around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday after traffic had been diverted to Air Base Parkway.

Solano County Proposes Maritime Industrial Zoning Change; Hearings Nov. 5 and 12

The property is owned by California Forever, which introduced a shipbuilding and maritime manufacturing proposal in April 2025. The county emphasizes that no specific project is approved; any future development would require a Board of Supervisors-approved Specific Plan, a use permit, CEQA environmental review, and agricultural mitigation. Public hearings are scheduled for Nov. 5 (Planning Commission) and Nov. 12 (Airport Land Use Commission), with final Board of Supervisors action anticipated in December.
