Early Results at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday Favor $1.1B Los Rios Bond

Early results for Measure H, a $1.1 billion bond measure for the Los Rios Community College District, showed approximately 62% support among counted votes as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The measure requires a 55% majority to pass and would fund roof repairs, security upgrades, new STEM and arts facilities, student housing, and other construction at American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, and Sacramento City College. If approved, the bond would add $16.55 annually per $100,000 of assessed property value to local homeowners' tax bills through 2051, with total costs including interest reaching approximately $1.79 billion. The district limited voting to Sacramento and Yolo counties, a decision outgoing trustee Robert Jones alleged was designed to exclude El Dorado County voters. Only about 26% of potential votes in Sacramento County and 34% in Yolo County had been counted at the time of reporting.

Sacramento County May Pay $25M to Raise Airport Control Tower Height

Sacramento County could pay up to $25 million from its airport enterprise fund to increase the planned height of Sacramento International Airport's new air traffic control tower by 25 feet, bringing it to 205 feet above ground level. The height increase accommodates the eventual expansion of Concourse B, which will add six gates and create a brief obstruction of controllers' view of one taxiway. On Tuesday, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution authorizing county staff to negotiate a contract with the FAA for the added height; the item is on the consent calendar and is expected to pass. The FAA funds construction, operation and maintenance of the replacement tower, while the county covers the height change because it was prompted by another SMF project. Construction is scheduled to begin summer 2027 and continue through February 2030, replacing a nearly 60-year-old tower opened in 1967.

Under California rules, independent expenditures require no coordination with a candidate's campaign, and the records reviewed do not establish such coordination between Better Leaders PAC and Robles.
