Elk Grove Staff Recommends Denying Summer Villas Project Ahead of Nov. 5 Hearing
The City of Elk Grove's planning department has recommended denying the proposed Summer Villas development, citing conflicts with rural preservation policies. The project would rezone 115.9 acres at Sheldon and Waterman roads for a gated community of up to 499 homes for residents aged 55 and older. Staff cited concerns over infrastructure costs, environmental impacts, and strong public opposition, with 34 of 35 comments opposing the plan. The Elk Grove Planning Commission will review the recommendation on November 5.
