El Dorado County Supervisors Appoint Eric Palmberg as Next Sheriff
The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted Tuesday to appoint Undersheriff Eric Palmberg as the county's next sheriff. The decision follows current Sheriff Jeff Leikauf's announcement that he will retire at the end of the year. Former Sheriff John D'Agostini had publicly criticized Leikauf and sought the appointment, citing a desire to correct past leadership choices. Supervisors expressed concern over the public dispute but focused on the needs of the sheriff's office.
