East Potomac Golf Course to Close Nov. 15 for Renovation
The Justice Department filed notice confirming President Trump's plans to close East Potomac Park south of Buckeye Drive, including the golf course, on Nov. 15, 2026. The National Park Service will submit a rendering by designer Tom Fazio for a championship-level course to the National Capital Planning Commission on Oct. 30, with review scheduled at its Dec. 3 meeting. A preliminary injunction issued Oct. 26 by U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes temporarily bars additional tree removal while litigation by the DC Preservation League and two golfers proceeds. The National Links Trust's lease to operate the course ends by Nov. 15. Separately, Judge Tanya Chutkan will hear arguments Friday on halting construction of a planned arch at Memorial Circle.
