Education · Davis, CA
UC Davis will launch a new Master of Education degree and teaching credential program, approved by the UC Office of the President in August, with the first cohort beginning July 2027. The one-year program replaces the School of Education's six-quarter M.A. pathway and offers multiple subject credentials, single subject credentials in agriculture, English, math, science and social science, and bilingual authorizations in Spanish and Mandarin. Applications for the 2027–28 cohort are now open, with a priority scholarship deadline of Jan. 15, 2027, a general deadline of March 1, 2027, and space-available acceptance through June 1. University officials say the program addresses California's teacher shortage, where substandard credential permits have more than tripled since 2012–13.
