California CalKIDS College Savings Program Reaches $2.4B Milestone
California's CalKIDS college savings program has reached $2.4 billion in public investment four years after launch, with over 6.1 million children holding accounts administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board. Families have claimed more than 1 million accounts as of October, aided by September outreach with local school districts and community groups. Beneficiaries can use funds at eligible higher education and vocational institutions nationwide between ages 17 and 26. Parents can check eligibility and claim accounts at CalKIDS.org using a child's Statewide Student Identifier or Local Registration Number.
