Conyers Man Sentenced to 15 Years in HIV Transmission Case
Cleveland Broadie of Conyers, Georgia, was sentenced Oct. 7, 2026, to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of reckless conduct-HIV infected person, avoiding trial on murder charges related to his wife Denise Broadie's 2022 death from AIDS. The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office arrested Broadie after two additional women alleged he did not disclose his HIV-positive status prior to unprotected sex. As a condition of any future release, Broadie must stay out of Rockdale County, have no contact with victims' families, share medical records with probation, and remain on HIV medication. Denise Broadie's daughters, Karen Young and Tammy Hammonds, said the plea deal brought them peace after years of seeking accountability.
