Colusa Police Report August Activity; Warn of Fraud Scams Targeting Seniors
The Colusa Police Department handled 399 calls for service in August, a 25% increase over the same month last year, according to Chief Josh Fitch's monthly report to the City Council. Officers made 29 arrests, conducted 363 traffic stops, and investigated five reportable collisions, including one injury crash caused by an impaired driver. Fitch warned residents about fraud scams targeting older adults, including callers impersonating law enforcement officers to collect money or verify currency serial numbers. The department also addressed school-year traffic congestion near Burchfield Primary School and reminded drivers that California State Parks passes do not cover fees at the city-operated boat launch.
