Bay Area Man Arrested After 85-Mile I-5 Chase from Woodland to Chico
A 45-year-old Berkeley resident wanted on a Shasta County felony warrant led Woodland police and California Highway Patrol officers on an approximately 85-mile chase along Interstate 5 early Tuesday, beginning near East Main Street and Freeway Drive in Woodland and ending in Chico after CHP deployed spike strips. The pursuit traversed Yolo, Colusa, and Butte counties before the suspect was stopped. Officers recovered about a quarter-ounce of suspected fentanyl from the man, who also had outstanding misdemeanor warrants from Napa and Trinity counties. He was transported back to Woodland and booked at the Monroe Detention Center on suspicion of narcotics possession, evading police, and driving without a license.
