Clark County Coroner Identifies Homicide Victim Found at Lake Mead in 2022
Clark County Coroner Melanie Rouse identified Edward Lelburian Jackson, an Arkansas man in his mid-to-late 50s, as the homicide victim whose remains were found in a barrel at Hemenway Harbor, Lake Mead, on May 1, 2022. Jackson died from a gunshot wound, and investigators estimated he was killed between the mid-1970s and early 1980s based on shoes found with his remains. The case drew national attention as Lake Mead water levels dropped to record lows, exposing multiple sets of human remains; three other victims found at Lake Mead in 2022 were identified by DNA. Las Vegas police said Jackson's family reported he liked to travel, but it remained unclear why he was in the Las Vegas area.
