Jones Outpaces Thompson in Fundraising Ahead of Nov. 3 Congressional Race

Stevenson Monument Bench Dedicated Nov. 7 at Calistoga Depot

A life-size bronze bench featuring author Robert Louis Stevenson, his wife Fanny, and their Irish setter ChuChu will be dedicated Nov. 7 at the historic Calistoga Depot in Calistoga, California. Sacramento-based sculptor Garr Ugalde created the $210,000 work, initiated by Eric Hanson through the nonprofit Robert Louis Stevenson Public Art Project. The monument commemorates the Stevensons' 1880 honeymoon at the nearby abandoned Silverado Mine, which inspired Stevenson's travel memoir 'The Silverado Squatters' and reportedly influenced his novel 'Treasure Island.' Installation talks with Saint Helena fell through before Calistoga was selected as the final site.
