Boulder Firebombing Suspect Pleads Guilty to Federal Hate Crime Charges
Mohamed Soliman, 46, pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado to 12 federal charges, including nine hate crime counts and three explosives-related crimes, stemming from the June 1, 2025 firebombing on Boulder's Pearl Street Mall that killed 82-year-old Karen Diamond and injured 14 others. Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will seek life in prison plus 50 years, avoiding the death penalty; U.S. Attorney Peter McNeilly said the decision was victim-driven. Soliman, already serving a state life sentence after pleading guilty to more than 100 state crimes in May, will be sentenced Jan. 7.
