Humboldt Musician Reports AI Copyright Theft; Event Saturday
Humboldt County musician Brett McFarland reports that an AI-generated artist named HAZE PNW copied his original songs, leading to copyright claims against him on streaming platforms. McFarland discovered the issue after receiving YouTube notifications stating his own live performance videos were infringing on another's copyright, redirecting his royalties. He has disputed the claims with DistroKid and Meta but says the AI versions remain online. McFarland is hosting the first Outlaw Country Revival at Crazy River Ranch in Blue Lake on Saturday, Oct. 24, with gates opening at 4 p.m.
