911 Call Released from Man Who Shot School Attacker at Bend Elementary
Authorities released Tuesday a 911 call from Kaylub Giamanco, who fatally shot 16-year-old Griffin J. John II during an Oct. 15 shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. The attack killed three children ages 5, 8, and 11 and a teacher in a special needs classroom, while critically injuring another student and wounding teacher Becky Drury. Giamanco, driving home for lunch, called 911 reporting a shooter at the school before entering through a window and firing on the attacker. Teacher Cassidy Schutz had confronted the shooter inside the building, tackling him and wrestling for control of his weapon until Giamanco's arrival ended the struggle.
