Alaska Senate Candidate Peltola Injured in Car Crash Before Campaign Tour
Alaska Democratic Senate candidate Mary Peltola and her family suffered minor injuries in a car crash Friday night while heading to the Alaska Federation of Natives Annual Banquet, according to her campaign. The accident delayed her "Alaska Always Tour," an eight-stop campaign push through the last week before Election Day, with medical professionals advising her to skip events Sunday and Monday. Peltola is challenging Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan for the U.S. Senate seat. Separately, President Trump said Friday he directed his administration to sue to block certification of the race if Sullivan loses, citing potential confusion with another candidate listed as Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. on the ranked-choice ballot.
