Timberline High Walkout Follows Alleged Violent Snapchat Messages to Student
A student posted screenshots on Oct. 3 that appeared to show Timberline High School football players sending violent messages on Snapchat about raping and killing a female student, prompting a student walkout and cancellation of the homecoming game. Boise Police completed evidence collection at the school but the investigation remains ongoing as authorities await data from social media platforms; police gave the green light Oct. 7 for the district to begin its Title IX investigation and threat assessment. The Boise School District Board of Trustees addressed the incident at Monday's board meeting and issued a statement Tuesday acknowledging that the school's response appeared slower than expected because the messages occurred on a private platform outside school hours.
