Family Accused of Stealing $367,000 in Copper from I-69 Construction Projects Near Evansville
Indiana authorities say Jason Fulks and family members stole more than $367,000 worth of copper wire from work-zone lighting projects at the Interstate 69 and Interstate 64 interchange near Evansville. The thefts were reported to Evansville police, the Warrick County Sheriff's Office, and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, with scrap yards across the Tri-State area flagging large copper sales. Fulks was arrested earlier this month following a traffic stop tied to an outstanding warrant in the case; Natalee Fairchild and Sherry Beasley also face charges of corrupt business influence. Indiana DOT is evaluating the impact on the lighting projects.
