The projected cost to rebuild Vallejo's police headquarters at 111 Amador St. has risen from approximately $120 million (September 2025 estimate by Indigo | Hammond + Playle Architects) to $156–$162 million, significantly exceeding available funding. Public Works Director Leonard Bradley Job presented cost-reduction options to the City Council ahead of its Tuesday meeting, including deleting the Police Services Building and K-9 facility ($35.9M savings), removing a floor from the Community Safety Center ($17.8M), or pausing design work entirely. The project stems from a 20-year-plus effort to replace a building flagged in a grand jury report for hazardous materials, failing HVAC, sewage, and flooding issues. The council previously voted in September 2025 to close a $746,000 gap using funds from a PCB contamination lawsuit against Monsanto.
