Nevada County Spay-Neuter Program Assists 343 Pets in First Year
The Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved a $75,000 pilot program that assisted 343 cats and dogs during its first year. The initiative aims to support residents unable to afford spay-and-neuter procedures, which typically cost between $300 and $900. Partnerships with nonprofits SNIP, Animal Save, and Gold Country Animal Clinic allowed the county to spend an average of $218 per procedure. Now in its second year, the program is accepting residents onto a waitlist due to high demand.
