Summerland Fire Station #62 Acquires New Site for $5.3 Million Replacement
The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District purchased a mixed-use building at 2330 Lillie Ave. in Summerland for $5.3 million to replace its current Fire Station #62 at 2375 Lillie Ave., which is more than 100 years old and was once rated the second worst fire station in California. Fire Chief Dan Stefano said the district searched for a replacement site for over two decades, with renovation of the new building estimated at $6 million to $8 million. The retrofitted station will include firefighter living quarters upstairs and offices, a training room, and community meeting space downstairs, with a goal of being operational within two years from December. District President Suzy Cawthon called the acquisition a significant achievement for Summerland's public safety infrastructure.
