Five student fights broke out Friday at Beyer High School in Modesto, four occurring simultaneously during lunch and a fifth later connected to one of the lunchtime altercations. The incidents triggered a campus lockdown while staff and Modesto Police officers restored calm; three students were taken to a hospital for evaluation, and no weapons were involved. Principal Sarah Cox announced extra security would be in place Monday as a precaution, following additional security at a Saturday school dance. Administrators also addressed circulating rumors of a potential threat against the campus, reported to Modesto Police but not identifying an individual planning future incidents.
