PK Fire in Sheridan County 85% Contained; Evacuation Threat Downgraded
The PK Fire, burning since last Friday between the Beckton and Wolf communities in Sheridan County, is an estimated 1,645 acres and 85% contained. County Fire Warden Chris Thomas said crews are letting the blaze burn itself out because cottonwood trees in the area can fall at any time, posing danger to firefighters. Authorities had urged residents over the weekend to be ready to evacuate, but recent moisture and agency response work have downgraded the threat.
