King Tides Flood US Coasts; PCH Closed in Huntington Beach Through Weekend

King tides caused by gravitational alignments of the Earth, moon, and sun flooded streets and sent seawater into homes and businesses along California, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina coasts beginning the week of Oct. 25-28, 2026. In Huntington Beach, officials shut down traffic on a flooded portion of the Pacific Coast Highway. Record high tides were set in Santa Barbara, San Pedro, San Diego, and La Jolla, while Virginia Key in Miami recorded its highest king tide in three decades. Forecasters said coastal flooding was expected through Saturday, Oct. 31, with Florida flood warnings active through early Friday.
