2 Teens Killed in Shooting at Moss Landing State Beach

Two teenagers from Salinas—13-year-old Nathaniel Flores and 15-year-old Marco Antonio Perez—were killed before 2 a.m. Monday in a shooting near Moss Landing State Beach on Jetty Road in Monterey County, California. Two additional victims were transported to hospitals, one with gunshot wounds of unknown status and another with non-life-threatening injuries. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office, California State Parks, and the California Highway Patrol responded; no arrests have been made and investigators say they have no information on motive or whether the individuals knew each other. Salinas Union High School District issued a letter mourning the deaths, and a GoFundMe campaign for Flores' family had raised more than $5,000 toward a $26,000 goal. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact Det. Sgt. Nick Kennedy at 831-755-3773 or Det. Richard Geng at 831-759-7279.
