Lake Lure Manages Storm Oct. 11–12; Limited Local Impacts Reported
Ahead of heavy rain on October 11–12, Town of Lake Lure staff lowered the lake below full pond elevation and increased Tainter gate openings at the dam to create capacity for incoming rainfall. Flood warning sirens were activated in the Fall Creek area near Chimney Rock as emergency officials communicated safety precautions. Town staff coordinated with Rutherford County Emergency Management, cleared roads, and removed debris during and after the storm. Officials reported that impacts in the immediate Lake Lure area were relatively limited, and the lake returned to full pond by Monday.
