FBI Questions Petersburg Residents in Ballot-Stacking Probe
Federal agents have visited residents of Petersburg, Alaska, a fishing community of 3,000, as part of a criminal investigation into alleged ballot stacking in the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan and Democrat Mary Peltola. FBI agents questioned roughly a dozen donors to the campaign of Dan J. Sullivan, a former elementary school teacher who ran as a Republican; those contributors collectively donated $7,150. A federal lawsuit brought by the Trump administration seeking to block certification of election results was dismissed Sunday by a federal judge, and the Justice Department quickly appealed. Peltola has denied any involvement in recruiting decoy candidates.
